The Mitch Franco
Story... So Far
Mitch Franco Smith was
born and raised in Northern California. His mother, Gemma Franco once a professional recording artist in the Philippines
and Father Mitch Smith got Mitchell into music at an early age. By
the age of 3 Mitch was listening to a variety of music spanning from
The Eagles, to Elton John, and many other artists.
At age 5 Mitch sung with his parents when they performed at various
venues all across the Bay Area. Mitch was also a regular at his
elementary school talent shows and performances.
At age 6 Mitch’s parents started him on the piano and got him
familiarized with notes and playing music, and after months of
lessons Mitchell developed an ear for music and could play anything
he heard. He sang for every talent show, and sung at every ceremony
from 1st grade to his 6th grade graduation.
At age 10 Mitch’s mom, Gemma bought a CD from a new artist named
Michael Buble, now famous worldwide for covering hits from Frank
Sinatra such as, “Come Fly with Me”, and “Summer Wind”. Mitch became
fond of the new album and began researching jazz music immediately,
discovering for the first time Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Bobby
Darin, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, etc. Mitch became soon obsessed
with the era, watching old 50’s black and white films and becoming a
big fan of Marilyn Monroe. Mitch had tried his voice at many styles
waiting for the right song to lock in with his style.
At age 13 after Mitch’s voice had changed giving him a low bass
tone, Mitch had tried singing along to an old classic Sinatra tune
entitled “I’ve got you under my skin”, and surprising himself and
his parents the song was perfect for him, and Mitch has been singing
jazz ever since. Mitch has also along the way picked up bass guitar,
and drums. Along the way Mitch’s parents took Mitch to as many
concert shows in and around town to expose him to different artists
and their performances.
Now at the age of 19, and a height of 6‘3 Mitch has been performing
all over Sacramento and the Bay Area. His most recent performances
include headlining at Tommy T’s in Rancho Cordova. Mitch has been
performing internationally for the last three years.
